Thinking about adding a dog or cat to your family? Have a new pet and want to learn more about how to care for your new friend? Spend an hour with our adoption and behavior staff learning valuable information about what to expect when you bring home your new dog or cat. These informational classes are held monthly and are highly recommended for all potential and new pet owners. The classes are free open to everyone, not just Potter League adopters. Need to work on some more training skills with your dog? Join ta Potter League, as she guides you and your faithful companion on a fun-filled and educational walk. Not only will you be getting great training advice but you will meet other dog owners and get a bit of exercise for yourself. The Black Dog makes September Dog Adoption Month!
The Black Dog is hosting a month long campaign “Come Meet Your New Best Friend” at all its stores throughout New England to promote dog adoptions. During the month, the Black Dog will donate 20% of their sales of dog products to partnering shelters. The Potter League is proud to be selected as the shelter partner for Newport.
The Black Dog General Store, located at 33 Bannisters Wharf in Newport, will host an event on Sunday, September 28, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm, to benefit the Potter League. The Potter League will provide information on dogs and cats available for adoption (and maybe a guest appearance or two). The Black Dog will sponsor raffles, treats and giveaways. Anyone who attends the event and adopts an animal at the Potter League will receive a Black Dog Starter Kit filled with a toy, treat, leash, bandana and rewards card…and 10% of the store daily sales on September 28 will also be donated to the Potter League. Save the Date for the Blessing of the Animals
Saturday, October 11
at the Potter League
Free and open to the public
People around the world celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi in October by having their pets blessed in the spirit of this patron saint of animals and ecology. The public is welcome to bring their pets (dogs, cat, rabbits, etc.) to the Potter League on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 pm. The brief ceremony will be officiated by The Reverend Susan Wrathall, Rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Warwick, and held outside but will be moved to the Potter League's training center in the case of inclement weather.

Fetching Friends Transport Program
Fetching Friends is a Potter League lifesaving program which transports animals from high volume/low adoption shelters to our facility in Rhode Island where adopters are eagerly awaiting their arrival.
