Teach Your Dog a Trick
1. Get your dog's favorite treat or a small slice of cut up hot
dog and put it in your hand. Show it to your dog.
2. Move your hand holding the treat toward his tail and slowly in
a big circle so your dog's nose can follow your hand.
3. When your dog starts to spin around, say the command, "spin".
4. When he completes a circle a couple times, give him the treat
and praise him.
5. Practice makes perfect - repeat this trick daily.
- Dogs like to open presents! Put a treat in a paper bag and let
your pet rip it open.
- Some dogs will follow a trail of kibble (small pieces of dry
dog food ) to a special treat or kibble "jackpot". Place
pieces about 2 inches apart at first. As your dog gets the hang
of it, space the kibble further apart and see if he can follow
the trail.
Play
"Hide and Seek" with your dog. Teach him the command
"Stay" and then hide. Call him, give him lots of praise
(petting and telling him he or she is a "good dog")
or a special treat when he finds you.
- Knotting your dog's ball inside an old sock can it more fun
to grab, toss or tug.
- On a hot summer dog, fill a kiddie pool with water and let your
pet cool off.
- Hide one of your dog's toys or a treat under an old towel or
old blanket and watch him dig it out.
- Blow Bubbles for your cat to chase.
- Make a kitty gym for your cat using a small stepladder.
Cover the steps with carpet and hang toys. Add a carpet
covered stretch and scratch board on the back of the gym.

- Cats
love to swat and play with interesting things. Put some "swatting
toys" from ordinary things found around your house - ping
pong balls, corks, bottle cats, crumpled tinfoil, small balls,
and empty film canisters with something that rattles inside. Some
cats like to pounce on a small stuffed sock.
- Chinese yo-yos or a pole with a something that dangles (a yarn
pom pom or a crumpled piece of paper) are other examples of fun
toys cats like.
- Most cats love to snuggle inside of bags and boxes. Make a cat
village for your kitty by decorating paper bags and boxes. Add
some little kitty blankets or pillows to make them
