Understanding Cat Body Language

  Defensive and Scared
A frightened cat will puff up her fur, flatten her ears and arch her backs. The cat may hiss or give a deep growl that almost sounds like it is coming from the belly. The pupils in her eyes will become large and dark. Don’t bother a cat who is scared.

  Aggressive and angry
This cat will crouch down low but his back end will be raised. This will allow him to jump forward. Ears may be flattened and the cat may also hiss or growl. The fur on his shoulders will be raised. Back away from an angry cat.
