By opening your heart and home\, you’re giving an adult shelter dog the gift of comfort while helping us create space for more animals in need. \n\nWhat is a Howliday Houseguest?\nThe Howliday Houseguest is a short-term fostering program where you welcome a Potter League dog into your home during the holiday season. It’s a chance to provide them with the comfort of a loving home while giving yourself the joy of companionship—and it makes a big difference in their life! \n\nDates: December 22-27 (If you’d like to foster longer\, please just let us know.)\nDuration: 4-6 days\, based on your availability\nSupport: We provide everything you need—food\, supplies\, and support.\nPlacement: Dogs are placed on a first-come\, first-served\, & best-fit basis.\n\nYou’ll also have the opportunity to meet your potential foster to ensure you’re comfortable with the match. If you have another dog at home\, we’ll ask that you bring them along for an introduction. \n\nWhy Foster During the Holidays?\n\nGive an Adult Shelter Dog a Break: A holiday home provides a much-needed break from the shelter environment.\nShare the Joy: Enjoy the companionship of a dog and create heartwarming memories.\nSupport a Good Cause: Your act of kindness allows us to help more animals in need during the busy holiday season.\n\n\nWho Can Foster?\nIf you’re 18 years or older\, reside in Rhode Island\, live in a pet-friendly home within 40 miles of our Animal Care & Adoption Center in Middletown\, and have some time to dedicate to a dog\, we’d love to have you as a foster! Our fabulous foster team!\nWhen: February 15th @ 2:30pm\nWhere: Potter League For Animals – Animal Care & Adoption Center\n87 Oliphant Ln\, Middletown\, RI 02842\nWhat: Interested in hearing more about our foster program and what it entails? Maybe you’ve signed up for our program\, but haven’t found the “one” yet. Maybe you’ve fostered a couple puppies\, but you’re ready to take on an adult shelter dog that has different needs. Maybe you’re interested in simply meeting and networking with other fosters or our wonderful staff! All great reasons to join us for a little soiree on February 15th! \nWe are opening this event for interested or seasoned dog fosters. We will go over different things you can do with your foster dogs to make their time with you enjoyable and successful. We will discuss what it involves to take on a “unicorn” foster. We will teach you different skills you can implement with you foster dog; such as positive reinforcement\, DIY enrichment\, and different “games” to play with your foster dog. And we will end our event with a little speed dating session with some of our available foster dogs for those who may be interested in leaving with a new foster valentine.
