SUMMARY:401Gives - Rhode Island's Day of Giving
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, April 1\, 2025 @ 12:00 AM – Wednesday\, April 1\, 2025 @ 11:59 PM \nEvery year on April 1\, Rhode Islanders come together for one powerful day of giving—401Gives—and this year\, the Potter League for Animals is once again proud to be part of it. \nYour support on this day helps complete the lifesaving puzzle—providing shelter\, medical care\, nourishment\, and second chances to animals who need them most. Each gift\, no matter the size\, plays a vital role in helping us build a brighter future for pets and the people who love them. \nYour support during 401Gives will help pets like Posey\, Bette Midler\, and Irie—each of whom came to the Potter League in need\, and found comfort\, care\, and love thanks to people like you. \nStarting at 6:00 AM on Tuesday\, April 1\, your gift will go twice as far thanks to a $20\,000 matching challenge from the Papitto Opportunity Connection—plus additional giving challenges and surprises throughout the day! \nTogether\, we can complete the puzzle. Let’s show Rhode Island what compassion looks like—piece by piece. \nHow You Can Help:\n\n\nDonate during 401Gives on April 1 \n\n\nShare our campaign on social media to help spread the word \n\n\nRally your friends and family to join you in supporting the animals \n\n\nGive Now

SUMMARY:Film Screening & Community Conversation: Tipping Point
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, April 30 at 6:00 PM at the Potter League for Animals for an evening of reflection\, learning\, and community conversation in partnership with the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). \nThe evening will begin with opening remarks and a conversation led by Potter League CEO Brad Shear\, exploring the often-overlooked connection between domestic violence and animal abuse—and how programs like the Potter League’s Pet Safe provide critical support for survivors and their pets. \nWe’ll then screen Tipping Point\, a 20-minute documentary produced and directed by award-winning filmmaker Susan M. Sipprelle. This intimate and powerful film features eight survivors of domestic violence as they share the barriers they faced in leaving abusive situations—and reflects the critical role organizations like WRC play in helping individuals rebuild their lives in safety and peace. \nThe title\, Tipping Point\, speaks to both the strength and courage of survivors and the urgent challenges faced by organizations like WRC amid continued underinvestment in life-saving services. \nA Q&A and open community discussion will follow the film. \nThis is a free\, educational event open to all\, but space is limited. Please RSVP below to let us know you’re coming.

SUMMARY:Yappy Hour 2025
DESCRIPTION:What a night to remember! Yappy Hour 2025 exceeded all expectations\, bringing together our incredible community of supporters for an unforgettable evening at the beautiful ‘Beaulieu’ estate. We are deeply grateful to Mrs. Dede Wilsey for graciously opening her home to us and creating such a warm\, welcoming atmosphere. \nWith nearly 300 attendees\, the event was filled with energy\, laughter\, and\, of course\, furry friends in search of loving homes. The evening raised $640\,000\, making it the most successful fundraiser in Potter League’s 96-year history. A key moment of the evening was the “Paw Raise\,” which raised a significant portion of the funds for the animals. This success wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance of Anne Hamilton\, whose long-time dedication and heartfelt passion for the animals played an essential role in making this moment so impactful. We are incredibly grateful for her continued commitment to our mission. These funds will provide essential medical care\, surgeries\, and rehabilitation for the animals in our shelter. As veterinary care and treatment costs continue to rise\, these funds are more critical than ever in ensuring we can continue offering the care that animals need before they can find their new homes. \nWe also extend our deepest thanks to our honorary chairs\, Dede Wilsey & John Peixinho\, whose ongoing generosity and commitment to our cause inspire much of the success we see. We are truly grateful for their involvement and unwavering support of the Potter League. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated committee co-chairs—Dory Benson\, Andrea Breyer\, Katie Gewirz\, and Amy Harden—whose tireless work\, passion\, and vision made this event truly special.
