Position Description:

Job Title: Animal Care Associate
Department: Operations
Location: Animal Care & Adoption Center, Middletown, RI
Classification: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Reports To: Animal Care Center Manager

Job Purpose

Animal Care Associates are responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary facility for animals and people and providing humane handling and care for all shelter animals. Ensures all animals’ nutrition, housing, and basic medical needs are met on a daily basis.

Accountabilities

• Responsible for care of shelter animals to include cleaning, feeding, bathing, grooming, and handling. Follows disease control protocols to ensure a safe, healthy environment.
• Observes and evaluates animals for signs of illness and reports symptoms to appropriate personnel. Assists with veterinary care as directed. Assists with the transportation of shelter animals to/from veterinary hospitals.
• Observes, assesses, monitors, and reports animal behavior.
• Performs continual maintenance and upkeep duties. Cleans vehicles and equipment used in transporting animals. Assists with inventory and restocking supplies. Runs errands and performs other duties as necessary.
• Maintains accurate information, completes forms, ensures good record keeping and communication.
• Works with all staff and volunteers for the advancement of the Potter League’s goals and mission. Represents the Potter League in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
• Follows all safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
• Demonstrates initiative and a flexible work schedule while working enthusiastically and cooperatively with all departments.
• Adheres to all Code of Conduct standards
• Other duties as requested.
