Gifting Stocks & More
The PLFA works with Fidelity Investments to transfer and sell stocks that are donated to our organization.
To donate stock, please instruct your broker to notify the PLFA of your stock by calling our Development Office at (401) 846-0592 or emailing development@potterleague.org. Include the following information:
- Your Name
- Stock Name
- Number of Shares
- Estimated Value
- Estimated Date of Transfer
- Brokerage Firm
We will provide your broker with transfer instructions and account information, if needed.

initiate a transfer:

When your stock gift is received, we will mail an acknowledgment letter and tax
receipt stating the name of the stock, the number of shares, and the fair market value on the date it was received by the Potter League. In order to be sure we have the correct information to acknowledge your gift, please contact Liz Isdale, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Lisdale@potterleague.org or (401) 846-0592.
IRA Charitable Rollovers
If you’re 70 ½ years old or older, you can utilize a straightforward method to support the PLFA while enjoying tax benefits. You have the opportunity to donate any amount up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity, such as ours, without incurring taxes on the funds.
To make a gift from your IRA, consult with your financial or legal advisor to arrange a direct transfer to the PLFA or have the administrator send a check from your account to us. For the donation to be tax-free, it must go directly from your account to the PLFA. Please inform the PLFA of your donation by calling our Development Office at (401) 846-0592.

If you have a donor-advised fund and would like to contribute, simply ask your financial advisor to designate a gift to the PLFA. Please let us know when you do so we can say thank you!
