The Potter League’s Pet Safe Housing Program is a safety net for community members in crisis. By offering temporary pet boarding to the victims of domestic violence, seniors requiring hospitalization, families displaced due to fire and other emergencies or disasters, Potter League is committed to keeping families together.
For a victim of domestic violence, finding a safe place for their pet can often mean the difference between staying in an abusive environment or leaving. With temporary shelter and vet care for their pet, these victims become survivors who ultimately reunite with their animal as they pursue a new life of safety and security.
The Potter League works with social workers and local domestic violence agencies to provide foster care and temporary housing.
Our ability to accept pets into this program depends on the population at the shelter at any given time.
