Position Description:
Department/Location: Education & Outreach – Animal Care & Adoption Center in Middletown, RI
Classification: Full-time, temporary, non-exempt
Reports To: Humane Education Coordinator
Supervises: Campers/Junior Counselors
Job Purpose
The Director of Operations provides leadership and direction for the efficient and smooth operation of the Animal Care and Adoption Center and Community Programs, including animal receiving, veterinary services, lost and found, animal outcomes, customer care, and behavior and training. The Director of Operations ensures quality programming that is in accordance with Potter League’s mission, goals, management, and resources. The Director of Operations coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with all other functions in the Potter League.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for providing assistance to the Humane Education Coordinator in the planning, preparation and execution of summer camp.
- Support the setup and breakdown of camp spaces, including preparing tables with supplies and sanitization materials.
- Ensure all camp areas are organized, clean, and fully stocked each day.
- Guide and assign tasks to junior counselors; ensure they are actively engaged and adhering to camp expectations.
- Maintain attendance records for junior counselors and assist with camper sign-in/out as needed.
- Organize and lead aftercare activities, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for campers staying late.
- Communicate professionally with guardians, campers, and team members.
- Adhere to all safety and conduct protocols in alignment with Potter League standards.
- Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and teamwork to meet daily needs.
- Other duties as requested.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, some shorter days depending on camper needs
- June 22 – August 14
