Financial Resources

Veterinary care can be expensive, and financial help may be available in certain circumstances. The resources below include local programs, national organizations, specialty funds, low-cost clinics, and crowdfunding options that may assist pet owners facing medical expenses.

Availability, eligibility, and funding amounts vary by organization. Assistance is not guaranteed.

Potter League for Animals – C.A.R.E. (Companion Animal Relief Effort) Fund

Potter League for Animals offers financial assistance through the C.A.R.E. (Companion Animal Relief Effort) Fund to provide help to Newport County pet owners who currently are unable to finance the medical treatment necessary for their pet’s specific illness, injury, or routine medical care.

To utilize this program, applicants must:

• Reside in Newport County
• Have no history of animal abuse or neglect
• Meet program eligibility guidelines

For chronic or emergency medical conditions, a veterinary recommendation, referral, or medical records from a licensed veterinarian will be required.

The C.A.R.E. Fund is limited and available only to eligible Newport County residents. While many pets and families have been helped through this program, funding is not guaranteed and applicants must meet established criteria.

Provides income-qualifying veterinary assistance vouchers for Rhode Island pet owners.

Friends of Animals in Need

Provides low-cost routine and emergency surgeries; a diagnosis from a referring veterinarian is required.

Pet Partners Veterinary Clinic (Fall River, MA)
Provides veterinary care for dogs, cats, and rabbits with no residency requirement.
