As our Clinic Veterinarian, you’ll perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgery while working alongside an experienced team dedicated to patient safety, surgical excellence, and compassionate care. Organization Overview:

The Potter League for Animals is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting, protecting, and advancing the well-being of Rhode Island’s companion animals. Position Details:

Department: Spay & Neuter Clinic

Location: Warwick, Rhode Island

Schedule: Full-time or part-time
The clinic operates Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Flexible scheduling is available within those hours. Occasional after-hours consultation or emergency support may be required.

Reports To: Director of Operations

Job Purpose

The Clinic Veterinarian is responsible for providing high-quality surgical care while ensuring excellence in patient safety, medical protocols, and staff training throughout the surgical process.

Accountabilities
  • Perform high-quality spay/neuter surgeries.
  • Conduct pre-operative examinations.
  • Monitor post-operative recovery.
  • Oversee post-operative rechecks and treatment plans.
  • Provide after-hours consultation for surgical complications as needed.
  • Administer vaccines and recommend follow-up care.
  • Provide medical oversight for clinic programs and protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with DEA regulations and medical standards.
  • Mentor veterinary and veterinary technician students.
  • Communicate medical recommendations with clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent).
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in Rhode Island.
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgery preferred.
